After the successful commissioning in September 2016 the first scientific tests are being conducted.
In Germany it is necessary to apply respectively qualify the plant for entry into the balancing service market. The application is submitted to the transmission network operator and is currently in progress.

To accommodate the batteries and other components the windows will be clad and the building structurally reinforced as part of the rebuild./span>

Several additional openings will be created in the building front to provide access for the batteries, inverters, medium-voltage transformers and other components.

Existing corridor in top floor before rebuild
The basic floor plan of the building will remain. Only the rooms will be modified to accommodate the batteries; the interiors will be removed and replaced by strong floor coverings etc.

Inverter room before rebuild
The existing raised floor will be used to integrate the electricals and cabling for the inverters and medium-voltage transformers to be installed here.

Lithium-ion battery room before rebuild
The lithium-ion battery rooms will be fitted out according to a specially developed safety concept to guarantee safe operation at all times.

Building services room before rebuild
The building services equipment includes in particular the heating, air conditioning and ventilation technology components. A total of around 400 kW of cooling capacity will be installed.

Lead battery room before rebuild
Extensive ventilation technology will be installed in the lead battery rooms.
